Zachary Walker protects and prepares the military from emerging threats by ensuring access to the most advanced commercial technologies in the world. As the lead of the Texas office of the Defense Innovation Unit Experimental (DIUx), his portfolio includes artificial intelligence, information technology, autonomy, space, and human systems. In this role, he connects entrepreneurs, venture capital, academia, and corporations to build a thriving defense innovation ecosystem. Zachary joined the military after the September 11, 2001 attacks and has served in a variety of information security, intelligence, and cyber warfare roles over the past 15 years.
Why This Program?
“I work with startup and venture communities to fund prototypes that solve the military’s highest priority problems and accelerate innovation for national defense. I came here to learn how to lead innovation and apply a scientific approach to business issues. The Action Learning aspect of this program would allow me to immediately apply new, scientific methodologies and business logic to ensure my organization is providing the nation with cost-effective solutions.
