As sales director for Humana Inc., Vanesia Adkins is responsible for leading a sales team in the execution of corporate strategic initiatives through the development of new business sales and the relationship management of a large broker distribution channel. Prior to joining Humana Inc., she worked as a benefit specialist at a national consulting/brokerage firm where she prepared financial reportings, marketing analysis and requests for proposals for large self-funded accounts. Vanesia sits on the board of two organizations in her community, San Antonio Sports and the National Association of Health Underwriters.
Why This Program?
I earned an MBA 10 years ago, but I wanted to go back to school because the business landscape has changed a lot since then. Also, my career goals include attaining a position in the C-suite. Some of the areas that I felt were blind spots for me were understanding data and analytics and how to use them to solve business problems. While a lot of MBA programs focus on business strategy with case studies, only MIT Sloan applies a scientific approach to helping students understand the data and analytics side of problem solving. This was the best program to help me fill in gaps to achieve my goals.
